This document will tell you all you need to know to upgrade your copy of Thunder 7 to version 1.5.3. This Update Kit is only for versions 1.5.0, 1.5.1, and 1.5.2. If you have an earlier version of Thunder 7 you will need to contact Baseline at 901-682-9676 or 800-926-9677 to upgrade your old Thunder 7.
This Update Kit consists of a number of files to replace the older Thunder 7 files and a patcher application to update the Thunder 7 control panel. You will need to run the patcher application on a COPY of the Thunder 7 control panel, NOT on the original!
1. Make a copy of the Thunder 7 control panel from the one on your Thunder 7 Program master disk. If you do not know how to copy files check your Macintosh Users Guide. To keep matters as simple as possible, put the copy of the Thunder 7 control panel in the Thunder 7™ 1.5.3 Update Kit Folder.
2. Double-click the Thunder 7™ 1.5.3 Patcher application. The application will show you an informative title window followed by another dialog box.
3. A standard file open dialog box will appear. If you have put the copy of the Thunder 7 control panel in the Update Kit Folder then you should see the name “Thunder 7™” in the list of files, otherwise you will have to use the dialog’s buttons to navigate around on your hard disk to find the copy of the Thunder 7 control panel. If you do not understand how to use the file open dialog box then you should check your Macintosh Users Guide.
4. Click on the name “Thunder 7™” to select it and click the “Open” button.
5. The patcher application will make changes to the copy of the Thunder 7 control panel while you wait.
6. When the patcher application is finished it will indicate success. Click on the “OK” button to quit the application.
7. Open your Control Panels folder (if you are using System 7) or your System Folder (if you are using System 6).
8. Drag your old Thunder 7™ control panel into the • Old Thunder Files Folder • in the Update Kit folder. (If you are using System 7 then keep your Control Panels folder open and off to one side after you have done this; you will be needing it later.)
9. Find the Thunder Folder in your System Folder. Open the Thunder Folder and drag the Compatibility Modules folder and the Selection Modules folder into the • Old Thunder Files Folder • in the Update Kit Folder.
10. Drag the Selection Modules folder and the Compatibility Modules folder from the Update Kit folder into the Thunder Folder in your System Folder.
11. Drag the Thunder 7™ control panel from the Update Kit folder into your Control Panels folder (if you are using System 7) or your System Folder (if you are using System 6).
12. Close all those messy folders and Restart your Mac.
13. The new, improved Thunder 7 should be working fine. You will need to find your old Thunder 7 Utility and replace it with the new one in the Patch Kit folder. Finally, after working with Thunder 7 for awhile you can throw away the • Old Thunder Files Folder • and all other remnants of the Patch Kit.
